With over 4,000 acres, the Harewood Estate lends itself to getting outdoors and enjoying yourself. From walking and cycling to relaxing whilst soaking up the views, there’s something for all.  

There are 15 miles of public bridle paths to enjoy either on foot or by bike. Right from your doorstep you can explore three famous walking routes (Leeds Country Way, Ebor Way and Dales Way), which cross-cross the Estate.  

Children can let of steam exploring our Magical Woodland at the back of our Cottages at Knap Yard.

Whatever time of year it’s a great area to have fun exploring and learning about the Flora and Fauna.

Unwind with our wood-fired sauna 

We’ve partnered with Nomad Sauna’s to bring a unique way to make your break at Harewood Holidays even more relaxing.

Step inside, slow down and enjoy the restorative power of traditional wood-fired sauna therapy. Set next to our Grade II listed garden lodge, you’ll have exclusive hire of the Sauna and Ice Bath (optional extra) for an hour or more.

Surrounded by beautiful wildflower meadows and stunning views this is traditional sauna like you’ve not experienced before.

Emmerdale Tour

A fan of the soap? Visiting the Emmerdale Village Tour whilst staying in Harewood is an unmissable experience. Head to the Yorkshire Dales and step into the Emmerdale village at the outdoor TV set. See the behind-the-scenes magic come to life as you explore the beautiful countryside setting

If you’re more of a cyclist than a walker, then you may already know that Harewood featured on the routes of the 2014 Tour de France as the location for the Grande Depart. We have also welcomed the Tour de Yorkshire on several occasions too. So why not channel your inner pro-athlete and enjoy the routes yourself? 

Each of our cottages has its own secure bike storage, so if you are planning to bring your own bike, you can be assured it will be stored safely during your stay. Alternatively, you can hire a bike for the duration of your stay through Vern Overton Cycling. The bike will be delivered to and picked up from your cottage door, making it an easy and smooth process from start to finish.  

Or maybe you want to relax in the stunning scenery? Pack a picnic and find a picturesque spot. Take in the ever-changing seasons and landscapes as you look out for our rare breed livestock, deer park and native wildlife. Find out more about the local wildlife on our Meet the Locals page. 

Want to venture further afield?  

If you do want to venture beyond the Harewood Estate, we are ideally situation in the heart of Yorkshire. Leeds, Harrogate, York, Wetherby, Otley, Ilkley, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park are all within easy reach for day trips. See your welcome pack in the cottage for further suggestions.
